Being new(ish) to Atlanta Christopher and Colin wanted the beautiful Piedmont Park as the setting for their engagement session. They imagined walking around the park, sun shining, with the trees and flowers in full bloom. O.K! Let’s do that! The first date we had picked out was actually raining, and COLD for Spring. We postponed and it was so worth it! You couldn’t have asked for a better day.

If you can believe it, Colin was reserved about first even having an engagement session done and second about how to how the engagement session done. 99% of my couples are concerned with being in front of the camera. What do I do with my hand?! Does my smile look forced? Is my hair doing that weird thing?? Y’all, we all feel that when we get in front of the camera, even me! I live my life by the camera and to be on the other side of it… rather not, hard pass.

The thing is, I know how to make it fun! My operation is to make you SO uncomfortable that it forces you to have fun. Seriously, the longer you are uncomfortable the more you loosen up and let your guard down. PROMISE.

Couples keep telling me you are awkward in front of the camera.. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

The fun part about photographing engagement sessions for engaged couples is that I know pretty much that entire park and every time I photograph there I introduce the couple to a part of the park they didn’t know existed. The park is so big! I try to keep every session unique and fresh by not overusing the same areas all the time. Now, obviously, there are certain areas like the skyline that do get used at every session. I mean, that is one of the reasons for going to Piedmont Park. But - for greenery areas, water area, I always try to create something new for my couples, something they haven’t seen on my Instagram feed. Whether its a different pose or different angle, every couple is unique and so should their engagement session!

Colin and Christopher married on June 1 of this year and I can’t wait to share the images with everyone. I cry at some point at every wedding I photograph, but let me tell you that the water works were on high at this wedding. Such fun couple and such a fun night. Be on the lookout for the blog post next month!
