Spring has sprung! Welcome to Spring everyone. Welcome to pollen and mosquitos and BBQ’s and late afternoon hangs and bumble bees and all the fun things that come along with longer days. And welcome to the amazing golden light that fills the air!
McDaniel Farm Park is such a diverse space for every season, but there is just something about when the land starts to bloom and start fresh for the year that I had to suggest it to this family for their session. With concrete and natural paths this park is suitable for everyone. The park has so many great options like the pathways, or the fencing, a bridge, a barn, you name it!
I’ve know this family since way back in 2016 when I was Demi’s Atlanta Wedding Photographer for her wedding at The Barn At Tatum Acres. With time family dynamic changes, so when she reached out to asking me if I was available to update their family photos I was so excited. Demi and Matt have added a new member to the family, Cruz! No only was this a session to show off Cruz, but a session to celebrate the matriarchs of the family - now Great Grandpa and Great Grandma!
Being a family photographer for my past couples and future couples for that matter is just as important as photographing their families on the wedding day. You know I always say there is importance in every session no matter how intimate or larger. If you are taking the time to have a portrait made, it is important. You could be celebrating a union, a new arrival or the expectation that a family member is reaching the golden years.
Taking the time to have family photographs done is an investment. They aren’t just photographs, they aren’t files on a USB drive, but they ARE memories. They are stories. They are events. They are milestones.
On a lighter note who doesn’t like to get all gussied up every once in a while!? Family photos can be anything you want them to be. It doesn’t have to be awkward or stiff or boring. We are going to have some sort of fun. Otherwise you might as well go to Sears! is Sears portrait studios even still around? I haven’t seen a Wal-Mart one in forever, oh but they do have the Portrait People in the malls here in Georgia. How do I know? I worked there for a hot minute in advertising when I first moved to Atlanta over 10 years ago before I got to know all of you amazing individuals.
Moral of the blog? Don’t wait until it’s too late to enjoy having your family session photographed. You don’t have to have your portraits done 4 times a year, but pay attention, as your family grows and changes. There are a ton of photographers out there, so even if you don’t hire me (but I really hope you do) you should hire someone to take your portraits. Take your portraits and PRINT THEM OUT. Hang them proudly so they can make you smile. They serve no one on your phone or on a USB drive.
