There really is something special about being a photographer and capturing life milestones. Moments really are fleeting. They happen and are gone. Often we are so busy celebrating and tending to these milestones that we sometimes forget to slow down, revel in them and really celebrate these events. This particular event was that Joanne and Dawson’s first child was turning ONE! Not only was he turning one, but Burke was on the verge of WALKING! Spoiler alert: he is full on walking now. I like to think I had something to do with it (OK, maybe not BUT shortly after this session he was walking).
This little guy gave me a run for my money on this session! He was so full of personality and facial expressions and really ran the show. It was amazing to see his confidence grow through the day as he went from “eh, lady with the camera” to full on “look at me taking these steps with my Mom and Dad and look what else I can do”.
Ever since time I photograph this couple I fall in love with their images all over again. Just when I thought I had taken the perfect image of their family, I take an even more perfect one the next session. This is saying a lot because I have photographed their engagement, wedding, family formals, baby announcement, maternity, 6mos, and now 1 year…. that is a lot of milestones and memories and they just keep getting better and better and all the heart eye emojis!
Can we pause for a moment and talk about this blue eyes and red hair! UGH, stop it Burke.
Connecting with my couples and their families is only a small part of wedding photography.. it really is an honor to continue to photograph their memories beyond the wedding day. I don’t specialize in newborn photography or specialize in family photography, but I specialize is making memories and capturing love.
